چکیده

This paper reports an investigation of the influence carbonitriding conditions for 20MnCr5 low alloy steel. Three gaseous were investigated based on different carbon and nitrogen potentials to attain varying levels between 0.62 0.93% mass, whereas 0.19 0.26% mass at surface. Analysis retained austenite residual stress distributions was conducted using X-ray diffraction technique. The effective case depth varied 900 1200 µm. microstructures characterized by proportions martensite, while core contained essentially bainitic microstructures. maximum amount which occurred a 50 µm from subsurface ranged 30 70% significantly influenced level surface micro-hardness hardness remaining relatively constant 450 HV1. High values stresses in martensite phase observed. signs, magnitudes, location compressive highly fraction austenite. Retained 30%, 50% lead peak residue -280, -227, -202 MPa depths 555, 704, 890 μm, respectively.

Influence of Process Parameters on Residual Stresses Induced by Milling of Aluminum Alloy Using Taguchi’s Techniques

In this paper, the straight flute end-milling cutter used for machining of Al-Si-Mg-Fe alloy work pieces was investigated. The machining processes could induce residual stresses that enhance greatly the performance of the machined component. Machining residual stresses correlate very closely with the cutting parameters. In the experiments, the residual stress on the surface of workpiece was mea...

Influence of Residual Stresses Induced by Cold Curving on the Resistance of I-section Steel Members

Cold curving is today the cheapest and more common way to produce curved steel members by bending or curving of straight members. This is a repetitive process during which the straight member passes several times through a machine with bending rolls imposing progressively the desire curvature (see for example the curving machine of figure 1). The non-reversible deformations introduced by the pr...

Influence of Residual Stress on Fatigue Life of Hot Forged and Shot Blasted Steel Components

Hot forging is a common manufacturing process for the production of large quantities of engineering components. Residual stresses are developed in forged components as a result of various aspects of the manufacturing process, including subsequent cooling, and heat treatment. Residual stresses can significantly affect the deformation and fatigue failure of materials. Hot forged EN15R steel bars ...

Surface Residual Stresses in Dry Turning of 0.45% C Steel

Residual stresses in a surface layer determine many exploitation characteristics of machined surface. Depending on their kind and the type of applied loading, the influence of residual stresses can be negative or positive. Tensile residual stresses usually exert highly detrimental impact on several functional aspects such as strength, fatigue life, corrosion, wear resistance, etc., whereas comp...

Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of 410NiMo as an overlay layer on low alloy steel

The aim of this study is to reach an increased service life for parts using in sour environment by weld overlaying process. In this investigation, two successive layers of ER410NiMo were clad on low alloy steel substrates. To reduce the likelihood of Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) and producing stable hydrogen traps, Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) was conducted. Microstructural analysis, X-ra...
